This is the time of year when lots of people look to make sweeping changes, aiming for a better “them”. This is to be applauded. You might be amongst them. What do you need to do to from “trying” to make change, to actually making change?
You need to work with yourself, not against yourself. If there are things you love, but that aren’t that good for you, reduce them rather than just stop. You’re much more likely to sustain this. As the year progressing reduce it down to the bear minimum you can do without. Life is about balance.
If you want to start a new habit, again start slowly and build up. Find things/activities you actually like doing and start to do them or more of them. Don’t pick things you think you “should” do, as you’ll find it hard to stick to these.
For example if you want to get a little fitter, you don’t need to hit the gym. Especially if you’ve never like the idea before. Start to just walk a little further, use the car and bus/train a bit less. Walk to the corner shop etc. A lunch take a small 15/20 min walk. It’ll do wonders for your physical and mental health.
Overall, just enjoy whatever you do.
