BACP Registered Integrative therapist
I am an Integrative therapist, meaning I have studied the three main therapeutic approaches, Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Psychodynamic, and have created an integrated therapy model that includes and embraces the elements of these approaches that I feel are most effective and therapeutic. I read copiously too, to ensure that I am as up do date as I can be on the latest advances in Psychology, therapy and the related fields.
I have a Degree in Psychology and a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling. Alongside my academic qualifications, I have also both life and practical experience. I have practiced for the NHS offering short term therapy (typically 6-8 sessions) in 3 GP practices. My private practice is in the centre of Birmingham. I offer both brief, short term therapy & long term, open ended therapy. Essentially working till I and the Client feel they have achieved a level of contentment in their life and wish to leave therapy.
I work with a wide range of issues, including Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Relationships, Stress, & Sexuality. These are of course just “categories”, and I look to work with you as an individual and as a person. To understand what is going on for you, and how we can best work together to resolve what doesn’t feel good in your life and to work towards a greater feeling of fulfillment.
As part of my work, I attend supervision, where I discuss my practice in order to ensure I am offering the best possible service for my clients. I am a registered member of a well recognised professional and governing body, The British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I also attend additional and on-going training. So you can be confident that my work is of the highest professional standard and that I continue to evaluate and build on my practice.
