It seems appropriate to write a slightly Corona tinged blog. I want to highlight how important keeping human contact is for us in general, but especially in these uncertain times.
It seems lots of people have coped admirably with reduced contact when lockdown first hit. Since it’s easing, it’s been clear that people have quickly reengaged with each other in person.
Virtual contact only gets us so far. In my line of work, it’s good enough, but it doesn’t have the same connectivity as face to face. The same is true in my personal life too. I couldn’t wait to get off the virtual platforms and really engage with people.
Whilst observing the best social distancing possible, I think it’s vital for all our wellbeing to still see family, friends and colleagues. Without it our wellbeing diminishes and with it our quality of life.
Don’t underestimate how crucial being around people is. From a work perspective, a workspace will always be more creative and productive than a virtual space. People are great at bouncing ideas around in person.
The same goes in our personal lives. To bounce ideas, thoughts & feelings of each other is pretty much the essence of being human. This will always be done best in person.
Do whatever you can to keep connected, especially in person. It really will see you through this difficult period.
