The adage “health is wealth” isn’t a bad place to start.
For those of us lucky enough to have good health, we really need to make sure we make the most of it.
For those who’s health isn’t so good, finding ways to limit our suffering is also crucial.
I try not to take my good health for granted, but then when I’m ill, I’m reminded of how much I still do take it for granted. It’s almost as if it’s expected.
However, it’s not a given. Health must be invested in.
We need to think how we take care of our bodies.
We need to be mindful of our longer term health, not just focus on the temptations of the here & now.
To invest in our health isn’t even difficult. We just need to be mindful of what we put into our bodies & what we do to maintain them.
The more I practice the more I come to realise that it’s our ability to put knowledge into action that really counts. If we just did what we knew to be useful for us, we’d all have decent wellbeing.
It appears to live a healthy lifestyle can seem like it’s full of sacrifice. However, this needn’t be the case.
If we can focus on leading a healthy lifestyle, that in itself starts to feel like a treat. To feel fully healthy, having good sleep & excellent wellbeing is rare. It’s well worth working towards, as you’ll feel great as a result & want to maintain the feeling.
