I could start talking about “modern romance”, but I’m going to save that for another blog in the near future. I’m currently reading a thought provoking yet hilarious book on the subject. So till that’s finished, I’ll not comment here. I could talk about the rules of society, both helpful or not, but again I’m not sure what merit that has here.
I imagine “where to start” afflicts us all from time to time. Here are I am sat in front of my laptop, in my nice office wanting to write something meaningful as it’s been a while. Yet, having scanned my previous blogs I want to avoid covering old ground. Perhaps somethings could do with a refresh, it seems I’ve been writting content for a while now.
Therefore lets go with the title of the page and work from there, a little bit of “free association” as those in my trade might call it. We’re at the start of another Western calendar year, although nearly a month through. So I suspect there are a number of people who are wondering how to get life to feel better, you don’t know where to start. Let’s see if we can simplify the process…
If you came and saw me in person, I’d be asking some open and gentle questions. Along the lines of, “what’s not going so well in life?”, “what feels good?”, “what would you like to do more of/less of?”, “what’s important to you?”. From there I’d help you to sift through your thoughts and feelings and see what might have the most “merit”. We’d then explore what might be stopping you do these things/changes now.
I’d then encourage you to start to make little changes, just to see how they feel. Cut a few things out, add a few things in. Raise your awareness as you do them, so that you have something to work with. Over the next session or two we’d work through what you’d found whilst you tried or did implement these changes. Tweaking things as we went, looking to find my favourite position in life, balance.
Now whilst doing this in person may speed up the process and add a little focus, plus that important neutral third party overview, you can also do the process on your own. If you make a start, break things down a little, you’ll discover it’s not too hard to make changes in your life. Then you’ll find your 2019 feels better than you expected and you can carry this on for life…
See, it was worth starting after all!
